Dominic P. Moccia, RPA-C
Registered Physician Assistant, Dermatology
Mr. Moccia is a licensed physician assistant, board certified through the NCCPA, a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and is a Diplomate of the SDPA. Dominic attended The University of Rhode Island with a double major in Biological Sciences and Italian language. He graduated summa cum laude with a Master’s in Business Administration. After his university studies, Dominic moved to Italy to perfect his language skills and study Italian culture. He returned to the States to attend Mercy College where he began his Physician Assistant training and graduated summa cum laude with a second Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. He extended his education to become a Diplomate of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) which means that he has achieved the highest educational honor available as a Dermatology PA. This impressive accomplishment has only been achieved by 24 PA’s in the state of NY.
Dominic’s first experience with a dermatologist was in high school when his teenage acne flared so severely that he required treatment to overcome painful, cystic acne. After trying over the counter creams and lotions, he found relief and clear skin with the prescription medication Accutane, a healthy diet and a careful skin care routine. His interest in dermatology expanded in college during his competitive diving career as a Division I athlete. Constant exposure to chlorinated water and hydro-therapy made him prone to frequent skin irritations, eczema and he suffered an outbreak of bacterial folliculitis. The effective treatments given to him by his dermatologist healed his skin and he was able to successfully advance his diving career.
Dominic attributes these positive experiences with his dermatologists for sparking his career helping others with their skin ailments. He’s developed a specific interest in acne care, sports dermatology, infectious diseases of the skin and laser treatments.
Dominic is a New Yorker, raised in Westchester County. He enjoys spending time with his traditional Italian family during their Sunday dinners. He is an avid indoor and beach volleyball player and has played with the Gotham Volleyball League.
