Hair Loss

We typically lose about 100 hairs per day. Since hair is growing all the time we don’t usually notice the scalp thinning. Hair loss occurs when the follicle is unable to produce new growth.

Some typical factors related to hair loss:

  • Heredity
  • Hormonal changes or a medical condition
  • Medications or supplements
  • Radiation treatments
  • Stress
  • Hair care products or hair style

If your hair loss, medically known as alopecia, is distressing to you, increasing suddenly, significant in parts of the body other than the head or patchy, then an evaluation would be in order. Hair loss can be treated with topical ointments, oral medications and hair transplantation.
