Volbella Information

Volbella Lip Contouring

Chelsea Skin & Laser offers Volbella, the latest in lip fillers. Juvederm Volbella adds a soft fullness, contours the outer lip line, reduces vertical lip lines, lifts drooping corners. Patients describe this lip filler look as pillowy, smooth, plump, subtle, kissable, natural-looking.

Volbella is a hyaluronic acid-based gel designed specifically for the lips. How long does Volbella last? Results can last up to 1 year and are intended to smooth lines or creases as opposed to providing volume. Often, more than one syringe or treatment is needed to achieve desired result. Repeat treatments are necessary.

Dr. Michael Eidelman and Dr. Brian Ginsberg have a gentle, effective Volbella technique for building lip structure.

We ask patients to arrive 30 minutes prior to their appointment to apply a topical anesthetic for their comfort. There is a lidocaine in the product to help with discomfort. Please alert your practitioner if you are allergic to lidocaine. There will be some tenderness at the site of injection for about 48 hours. Tylenol can be taken for to ease sensitivity.

As with all filler products, swelling, bruising, redness, irritation, marks at the injection sites may occur. Itching and chapped lips have been reported. Most side effects are mild or moderate and duration is generally 7 days or less. Minor inflammation or swelling normally begin to resolve within 24 hours but have been reported to last up to a few weeks. Ice can be applied intermittently to reduce swelling. Swelling and firmness could last, on average, two weeks, then will soften.

Tell your practitioner if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding, have had or plan to have surgery or cosmetic treatments on the lower face, neck, or chin, have or have had recent medical conditions including any type of infection in or near the neck area, trouble swallowing, bleeding problems or are taking blood thinners.

If you have any history of herpes on the face, we recommend taking an oral antiviral pill prior to your lip filler treatment. Bruising risks can be minimized by avoiding aspirin, Advil, Aleve, Motrin, ibuprofen, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, concentrated garlic and alcohol for one week prior to treatment.

Avoid dental work, including teeth cleaning, at least 2 weeks prior and one month following treatment. Avoid oral surgery at least 4 weeks prior and one month post treatment.
